Panola County, TX (6/11/2021) – A person was killed and another person was injured Friday morning south of Carthage.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on FM 2517 when a Chevy Colorado headed west drove on the wrong side of the road and struck a Volvo towing a trailer that was headed eastbound.
The driver of the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 58-year-old Larry Bellamy.
The driver of the Volvo was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
