Hardin County, TX (1/22/2020) – A man is dead and others were left injured early Tuesday morning in Hardin County.
The accident occurred around 7:15 a.m. at the intersection of FM 1293 and FM 1003. According to DPS, a GMC SUV was traveling west on FM 1293 while a Ford pickup truck was headed east on FM 1293. The GMC attempted to make a left turn in front of the Ford and then was hit on the passenger-side of the vehicle. The GMC spun and the passenger of the GMC, 48-year-old Enrique Gonzalez, was ejected. The Ford came to a rest in a ditch.
Enrique Gonzalez was taken to a hospital where he later died.
The driver of the SUV, 83-year-old John Prince, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The passenger of the Ford, 32-year-old Marlena Toomey and her 10-year-old son, were both transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A second passenger of the Ford, Toomey’s 13-year-old daughter, was flown by medical helicopter to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the accident.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
