Rusk County, TX (8/13/2021) – A father was killed and two of his kids were injured Friday afternoon after a tire blowout crash.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. on US 79 near Henderson. A GMC truck towing a trailer was headed eastbound on the highway when the front right tire blew out and the vehicle lost control. As a result, the GMC went off the roadway.
The driver of the GMC, 52-year-old William McAlister, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His two passengers, a 5-year-old and a 10-year-old, were injured and taken to the hospital. The 5-year-old was taken in serious condition.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
