Salado, TX (9/3/2021) – A fiery wreck involving several 18-wheelers shut down lanes of I-35 Friday morning.
The accident happened in the north and southbound lanes on the bridge before the I-35 Williamson Road exit late Thursday night. An 18-wheeler hit a parked vehicle along the highway, sending it into a guard rail. That’s when another 18-wheeler crashed into the first 18-wheeler, causing fuel to leak. Both 18-wheelers went up in flames.
DPS said a third 18-wheeler was also impacted by the wreck and two 18-wheelers burned to the ground.
A driver leapt off the overpass to avoid the flames.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
