Lake Somerville, TX (5/11/2020) – Four people were killed and one was left injured after a two-vehicle car crash near Lake Somerville late Saturday.
The accident happened around 11:05 p.m. on LBJ Drive in Washington County. A Ford pickup driven by Ignacio Aviles, 37, was headed southbound on LBJ Drive when it hit a guardrail and collided head-on into a Chevrolet Suburban.
Aviles was taken to CHI St. Joseph where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Suburban, 18-year-old Chase Sowders, was killed at the scene. His passengers Jasmine Maxwell, 18; Payton Francis, 6; and Justin Richard, 37, were also killed in the collision.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
