Waco, TX (12/16/2019) – A 21-year-old Baylor student is now hospitalized after getting hit by a car in Waco early Sunday morning.
The accident happened around 2 a.m. at 12th Street and La Salle Avenue when a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Gabriela Estrada drove through a red light and struck O’Heeron as she was crossing the street. Estrada then fled the scene.
O’Heeron was transported to a nearby hospital. She is expected to survive with multiple injuries, including head trauma and broken bones.
Estrada was charged with Intoxicated Assault and Failure to Stop and Render Aid Causing Serious Bodily Injury. She remains in jail.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
