Houston, TX (2/7/2020) – A grandmother, mother, and baby were killed in a deadly, fiery wreck in northwest Harris County on Wednesday.
According to officials, Gregory Allen Smith, 30, was driving his SUV south on Antoine Drive at Beltway 8 around 4 p.m. when he drove through a red light and struck a black SUV. Then he struck a minivan, which burst into flames.
A grandmother, mother, and infant riding in the minivan were killed at the scene. They were identified as Piedad Romero, Diana Soriano-Escobar, and Ricardo Daniel Escobar Jr.
Four people were injured from the accident. The driver of the black SUV, Smith, and his passenger, were taken to the hospital for their injuries. The last injured victim was an 11-year-old girl, who was ejected from the minivan.
Smith has been charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
