Harris County, TX (11/05/2019) –A Harris County man was killed by a hit-and-run driver near a church early Monday morning.
Reports of the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. near Cypresswood and York Minister Drive. Neighbors say they heard a car crash, then moments later saw a trail of blood about 150 yards long caused by the truck dragging the victim after striking them.
The suspect has been identified as Esgar Lopez.
He has been charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid. He has yet to confess to striking and killing the pedestrian.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
The suspect in the Toyota Tundra may face devastating charges not only for the hit-and-run, but the manner of how he killed the pedestrian. The family of the pedestrian may have a right to file a wrongful death suit for the harrowing acts that the Tundra driver committed.
