John Lyons Killed after Deadly Wreck in Stanton

Stanton, TX (3/26/2020) – A man is now dead after a deadly wreck Tuesday morning in Stanton, Texas.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. on FM 700. According to DPS, a vehicle driven by Lindsey Woods was headed south on FM 700. John Lyons was parked on the side of the road, talking to a trooper who was parked behind Lyons. That’s when Woods struck Lyons’ car and struck Lyons. The DPS patrol car was also hit.

Lyons was killed in the wreck.

The trooper was able to get out of the way, unharmed.

Woods was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
