Joshlyn Ortega Killed after Semi-Truck Accident in Baird

Baird, TX (5/1/2020) – A young woman was fatally killed after being struck by a semi-truck on the side of the Interstate highway Wednesday evening.

According to DPS, Joshlyn Ortega, 27, was stopped in the median inspecting a flat tire on her Chrysler 300 when a Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 25-year-old Jorge Alberto Ortiz Torres struck and killed Ortega.

Ortega was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to Abilene Medical Services.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
