Three People Killed after a Drunk Driving Wreck in Dallas

Dallas, TX (7/25/2020) – A longtime Texas Appeals Court justice was killed in a deadly car wreck involving a drunk driver Saturday night.

The accident happened on Interstate 30 in Royse City when 32-year-old Megan Smith was headed the wrong way on the Interstate and struck Justice David L. Bridges, 65. Smith was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

Bridges was killed as a result of the accident.

Smith was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. She was later booked into the Hunt County Jail on an Intoxication Manslaughter charge.

Bridges was elected to the 5th District Court of Appeals in 1996. The district serves Collin, Dallas, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman and Rockwall counties.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
