Dallas, TX (2/17/2020) – A man was brutally killed after becoming involved in a street racing incident early Sunday morning in Dallas.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Cushing Drive and Masters Drive. Kendrick Lyons, 45, was stopped at a stop sign about to cross Masters Drive when he was struck by one of two men in a street race. According to police, a 23-year-old and 27-year-old Alejandro Valdez were speeding in their Camaros south on Master Drive at the time of the crash. The 23-year-old struck Lyons and ejected Lyons across three lanes of Masters Drive before coming to a rest in a front yard.
Lyons was pronounced dead at the scene. His car rolled several times then caught fire before coming to a rest.
The 23-year-old driver was taken to a hospital with serious internal injuries.
Valdez waited at the scene for the police and reportedly turned himself in.
The 23-year-old and Valdez face a charge of racing causing death. .
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
