Man Dead after Fatal Head-On Crash in Ector County

Ector County, TX (9/12/2021) – A man is dead after being involved in a crash Sunday evening.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. on State Highway 302 when a vehicle failed to drive in a single lane, crossed the center median and struck a pickup truck head on. 

Both of the drivers were taken to the hospital. The driver of the pickup, 32-year-old Rodolfo Lopez-Ramirez, was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Octavia Petty, suffered incapacitating injuries. 

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
