Carlsbad, NM (5/18/2020) – A man from Texas has died after a probable industrial accident in southeastern New Mexico.
The accident happened at Marathon Rio Hub Rail Terminal in Loving when a man, 49-year-old Cody B. Vernon, was performing an inspection on a railroad tank car. According to authorities, Vernon was inside a railroad tank car unconscious and not breathing around 9 a.m.

While the cause of the man’s accident is unknown, it was reported that this accident was labeled as an industrial accident. These types of accidents usually occur while workers are on duty.
