Carson County, TX (7/23/2020) – A man is now dead after a two-vehicle wreck occurred Thursday morning.
The accident happened at State Highway 207 and Interstate 40 frontage road around 9:30 a.m. Gary Hiler, 69, was headed north on Highway 207 in a Ford Escape when he ignored the stop sign at the intersection of the highway and the I-40 frontage road. He pulled out into the path of a Peterbilt truck driven by 62-year-old Ronnie Mallory. Mallory was unable to avoid the Escape and he struck Hiler.
Hiley was taken by ambulance to Northwest Texas Hospital, where he later died.
Mallory was not injured in the crash.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
