Forney, TX (1/21/2020) – Two women are dead after a deadly wreck on US 80 late Monday morning.
The accident occurred in Forney at the Gateway Boulevard Bridge when a vehicle going east driven by 61-year-old Royce Freebourn ran a stop sign and struck a minivan going north that held Margarita Bottello and Yazmin Villagomez Martinez.
The women were killed at the scene.
Freebourn was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Because of the negligent decisions to run through a stop sign and to drive under the influence, the surviving families of Bottello and Martinez have a right to file a wrongful death claim against Royce Freebourn. In Texas, a wrongful death claim allows victims to recover many different types of damages, including the death of their deceased family member’s income and financial support, the loss of the deceased family member’s companionship, the loss of an expected inheritance, and mental anguish and suffering.
