Austin, TX (11/25/2019) – A motorcyclist was killed Monday, November 18, in a deadly wreck in North Austin.
The incident occurred Monday evening around 7 p.m. near the 5800 block of Burnet Road. Matthew James Almasi, 26, was in a blue Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle traveling down Burnet Road at a fast speed when a Honda Odyssey minivan struck Almasi after making a left-turn.
Almasi was thrown from his motorcycle and transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died around 8:30 p.m.
The driver of the minivan was not injured.
The passenger riding in the minivan suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The driver of the minivan was issued a citation for failing to yield right-of-way to Almasi.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
