New Braunfels, TX (7/13/2020) – A man is now dead and six others are injured after two vehicles collided into each other in New Braunfels Saturday night.
The accident happened around 10:40 p.m. on North Business 35 in front of Marketplace Shopping Center. Michael John Maraist, 26, was driving a Ford Focus at high speeds when he missed a turn, left the road, went through a grassy median, and came into oncoming traffic of North Business 35. He collided into a Ford Transit 350 van.
Maraist was killed at the scene.
Six occupants in the van were injured – two adults and four children – and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
