Mother, Infant Killed in Major Accident on 99 Grand Parkway

Houston, Texas (Feb. 15, 2023) – The Harris County Sherrif’s Office has confirmed that a 30-year-old mother and her infant child were killed in a major accident on Grand Parkway in Houston. 

A second child, a 3-year-old, was also in the vehicle and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital. 

Reportedly, a driver in a Toyota Camry told first responders that a vehicle in front of her abruptly stopped on the exit ramp of 99 to 290. The Camry swerved to avoid the vehicle and struck a Toyota 4Runner. The impact caused the 4Runner to flip over the guardrail and land on its roof. The driver of the Camry also struck a Volkswagen sedan. 

The now-deceased mother was driving the 4Runner at the time of the crash. Her two sons were in the vehicle with her. Sheriffs confirmed that both children were in car seats and in the back seat at the time of the crash. 

Officials with the HCSO said the drivers of the Camry or Volkswagen were not injured in the crash. 

The vehicle that stopped in front of the Camry did not stay on the scene after the accident. Police are working to find the vehicle/driver to gather more information on the crash.
