Mother Killed, Daughter Injured in Head-On Wreck in Harris County

Harris County, TX (6/6/2021) – A person was killed and another was seriously injured following a head-on collision on Sunday.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Ella Boulevard near FM 1960. A Kia Optima driven by a mother, with her 15-year-old daughter in the passenger seat, attempted to avoid a truck pulling out of a subdivision. She lost control of her car after avoiding the truck, crossing the center lane and driving into oncoming traffic. She crashed into a Chevrolet Equinox.

The mother was pronounced dead at the scene and her daughter was flown to the hospital via LifeFlight in critical condition.

The driver of the Equinox, a woman in her 60s, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. 

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
