Beaumont, TX (4/15/2021) – A multi-vehicle wreck left one person killed in Beaumont Thursday afternoon.
A Dodge pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old teenager was headed eastbound at a high rate of speed on the I-10 service road. The teen ran a red light at the intersection with North 11th Street near Luby’s. The pickup struck the passenger side of a southbound Chevrolet HHR.
The force of the wreck pushed the HHR into the northbound lanes, where a Chevrolet Equinox and a Ford pickup were then involved in the accident.
Aleida Tovias Rios, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other people received minor injuries in the wreck.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
