Tyler, TX (8/24/2020) – One person is dead and two others were left injured after a fatal wreck in Tyler.
The accident happened Sunday morning on Highway 64 in Smith County around 10:20 a.m. when a Saturn Ion struck a Ford F-150. The Ford pulled out of a Chevron gas station and the Saturn headed east on the highway came along and struck the Ford.
Saturn passenger Jataria Lynn Smith, 26, was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. She was 9 months pregnant with her first child.
The driver of the Ford, 60-year-old Robin Black Longino, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Saturn, 40-year-old Ronnie Dewayne Smith, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
In Texas, the immediate family members of Jataria Lynn Smith and her unborn child are able to seek damages and hold the responsible party accountable by filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
Because damages claimed in wrongful death lawsuits are usually significant, insurance companies and lawyers for the at-fault party will do everything they can to avoid being held responsible. For this reason, it’s critical that Smith’s family be represented by their own lawyers who have significant experience handling wrongful death claims.
