One Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash in Idalou

Idalou, TX (11/05/2019) – A person suffered minor injuries after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on the Idalou Highway Monday morning.

The crash occurred at the intersection of FM 400 and Highway 62/82 when a Ford pickup truck and trailer heading southbound on 400 failed to yield right of way and collided with a Subaru heading westbound on 62/82.

The driver of the Subaru, 49-year-old Stacy Skiles, was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup Marvin Arbeiter, 74, was reportedly not injured.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Drivers have a responsibility to follow all rules of the road, including the yield to the right of way. Because Arbeiter failed to yield, and it resulted in causing personal injury on another person, he may be charged with negligence due to failure to follow Texas law.

According to the Texas Transportation Code, if an operator approaching an intersection controlled by a yield sign doesn’t follow said sign, and it results in a collision, then the collision is prima facie evidence that the operator failed to yield the right-of-way. In that case, Skiles has a right to file a personal injury claim against Arbeiter.
