Smith County, TX (9/10/2020) – A multi-vehicle wreck left one killed and two injured Thursday afternoon in Smith County.
The accident happened on FM 850 near Chapel Hill around 5 p.m. in the afternoon. Dean Richard Anderson, 58, was headed eastbound in his Dodge Ram 1500 on FM 850 while two Harley Davidson motorcyclists were headed east attempting to pass Anderson. Anderson attempted a left turn while the motorcycles were passing and the motorcyclists struck Anderson.
Motorcyclist Allen Scott Carter, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Motorcyclist Jessica Micheal Carter, 35, was transported to UT-Health – Tyler in critical condition.
Anderson was treated and released at UT-Health – Tyler.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
