One Left Dead after Fatal Wreck in El Paso

El Paso, TX (8/25/2020) – One person was left dead after a wreck early Monday morning in El Paso.

The accident happened around midnight when a pickup truck driven by Erick Hernandez on Montana Ave made a left turn, causing an ATV to collide with his truck.

Hernandez fled the scene.

Tommy Ortega, 20, was taken to the hospital with fatal injuries, where he later died.

Hernandez was arrested Monday and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on suspicion of accident involving death. He is currently being held on a bond of $500,000.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
