Texarkana, TX (10/4/2020) – A hit-and-run wreck left one person injured in Texarkana.
The accident happened on Magnolia Street just after noon on Sunday. A red two-door Honda turned left onto Magnolia Street from West 38th Street at a high rate of speed. A person on a motorized bicycle was also going southbound on Magnolia Street when the Honda turned into the southbound lane and struck the rider. The Honda then fled the scene.
The rider, a 51-year-old man, was found lying in the street with injuries. He was thrown onto the windshield before rolling off it and onto the street. He was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center and is listed in serious but stable condition. He suffered broken bones and numerous lacerations as a result of the crash.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Under Texas law, a hit-and-run accident is referred to as “leaving the scene.” These accidents involve any driver who knowingly hits a vehicle and intentionally drives off, failing to leave his or her contact information, call for help, or render aid.
