Rear-end Collision with New Deal School Bus Caused Several Injuries

Lubbock, TX (10/17/2019) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a collision with a pickup truck and a school bus belonging to New Deal Independent School District.

The bus accident happened Thursday around 7:30 a.m. near North University Avenue and Regis Street. The bus was traveling south and stopped to pick up children at a bus stop.

The driver of a pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to yield to the bus which caused the driver to collide into the back of the bus.

During the crash there were eleven children on the bus at the time. Three children claimed to have minor injuries with one going to the hospital.

The school bus driver, Janet Lynn Burkhead, was taken to University Medical Center. 

The driver of the truck has been identified as 25-year-old Brandon Lamar Mosley. Mr. Mosley was extracted from his vehicle with serious injuries and was taken to University Medical Center.
