Houston, Texas (October 1, 2022) – 22-year-old Rene Alvaredo has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in relation to the death of a 2-year-old child. Alvaredo is also facing an additional charge of failure to stop and render aid. The 22-year-old had been released on bond from Collin County on a separate DWI charge.
Local police say the hit-and-run happened on Saturday night on Narin Street, near South Gessner Road and Bissonnet Street. Alvaredo reportedly was speeding through an apartment complex in a Dodge Ram truck when he struck the child. He attempted to flee, but was stopped by witnesses.
Officials on the scene said Alvaredo showed signs of intoxication.
