Rusty Lee Edwards Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck

Refugio, TX (9/18/2020) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Refugio Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. when a tractor semi-trailer was headed north on U.S. 77 and a Ford F-150 was headed south. The semi-trailer was going at an unsafe speed when he hydroplaned across the median into oncoming traffic. The semi-trailer struck the Ford on the driver’s side door.

The driver of the Ford, 60-year-old Rusty Lee Edwards, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the semi-trailer was taken to a hospital in Refugio for minor injuries the release states. 

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
