Lubbock, TX (4/16/2021) – A teenager was killed after being involved in a single-vehicle wreck on Friday.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on West Loop 289 between 19th Street and 34th Street.
A Jeep Grand Cherokee was headed southbound when it left the roadway and struck the pole of an electronic traffic sign.
Driver Gabriel Castillo, 18, was taken to UMC with serious injuries.
His passenger, 17-year-old Megan Martinez, was killed.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
