Garvin County, OK (6/11/2020) – A man from Texas is now dead after being involved in an accident in Oklahoma Tuesday morning.
The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. on I-35 near Garvin County. A Freightliner semi-truck was headed southbound while another semi-truck and a pickup truck were stalled on the shoulder due to a mechanical problem of the semi-truck. According to OHP, two pedestrians were under the parked semi-truck fixing the mechanical problem. That’s when the Freightliner semi-truck left the lane and struck the parked semi-truck and both the pedestrians.
The driver of the Freightliner semi-truck, 54-year-old Peter Ndirangu of Dallas, Texas, suffered trunk internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrians, 24-year-old Benjamin Calderon and 21-year-old Kevin Calderon, of Oklahoma City were both transported to the OU Medical Center. Both pedestrians sustained head and trunk internal injuries.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
An investigation of this accident will prove essential due to the fact that a commercial truck puts pedestrian’s lives at risk. The driver of the semi-truck that caused the accident, and the trucking company, may be liable for any damages brought forth upon the woman.
The elements of liability, damages, and the ability to pay are critical in determining the value of a case or claim. Without all three elements, a case has little to no value given the nature of our legal system.
