San Antonio, TX (9/26/2021) – Three people were killed after a major crash early Sunday morning on the far West Side.
The accident happened around 1 a.m. when an SUV headed eastbound on the 1604 access road was struck by another vehicle. The Jaws of Life were used to extricate two victims.
Two men, 37-year-old Daniel Valenzuela Jr. and 69-year-old Daniel Valenzuela Sr., died at the scene. The third victim, 84-year-old Andrea Iglesias Uvalle, later died after being taken to a local hospital.
Another passenger, a 41-year-old woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
On Monday, the suspect was identified as 17-year-old Elijah James Montalvo. His charges include three counts of Intoxication Manslaughter with a $700,000 bond, records show.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
