Martin County, TX (1/25/2021) – A three-vehicle crash in Martin County left one person dead and another injured on Monday.
The accident happened around 2:00 p.m. at State Highway 349 and County Road 3200. A Hyundai passenger car and a semi-truck were driving side-by-side on SH 349 when a Buick Lacrosse headed in the opposite direction failed to control its speed and nearly missed a vehicle making a turn in front of it. The Buick swerved and crossed into the center line and hit the Hyundai. The Hyundai then collided into the semi-truck.
The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 56-year-old Toni Place, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Buick, 31-year-old Casey R. Ketchersid, was taken to the hospital with incapacitating injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led to the accident, and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
