Gonzales, TX (6/4/2022) – Two men are dead, and another is in critical condition, following a two-vehicle crash on Texas 97 roughly six miles east of Gonzales. The Texas Department of Public stated that officers responded to the incident shortly after 11 a.m.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2021 Toyota RAV4 west on Texas 97 when the driver crossed into the eastbound lane, resulting in the Toyota to crash into a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. Police have identified the driver of the Toyota as 31-year-old Abedessa D. Wanjalatan who was pronounced dead on the scene. The front passenger, who was identified as Hussein Bille Hassan, was alone killed in the accident.
One rear passenger from the Toyota was taken by Airlife to South Austin Medical Center, where they are said to be in critical condition.
