Two Dead, Three Injured in 18-Wheeler Crash in Wood County

two-dead-three-injured-18-wheeler-crash-wood-countyWood County, TX – Two people were killed and three others were seriously injured after a collision with an 18-wheeler Wednesday evening in Wood County.

The crash happened around 6:40 p.m. on U.S. Highway 69 near Mineola. Early reports indicate that Akm Shamsul Karim, 35, was driving a Cadillac XTS when he stopped at the intersection of FM 779 and U.S. Highway 69.

Jairol Tejada Limonte, 25, was driving a semi-truck towing a semi-truck approaching the same intersection and struck the car.

Mr. Karim and a 17-year-old female rear seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The front seat passenger of the car, Brody Spann, 37, of Mineola was taken to Tyler hospital in serious condition. Two teenagers sitting in the backseat were taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

It is unknown if Mr. Limonte was hurt in the accident.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in ten days.
