Two Drivers Killed in Fatal Head-On Collision

Van Zandt County, TX (1/3/2021) – Two people were killed in a fatal crash near Fruitvale.

The accident occurred on Sunday around 7:50 p.m. on U.S. 80. A Hyundai Sonata headed eastbound and a Freightliner truck towing a trailer collided head-on. 

Both drivers of the vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai was identified as Marc Italia, 61, and the driver of the Freightliner was identified as Wanda Jane Lewis, 58.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led to the accident, and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
