Jefferson County, OK (7/23/2020) – A woman and a child were killed and multiple people, including an infant, were injured after a fatal wreck occurred Thursday in Jefferson County.
The accident happened on U.S. 81 in Addington, Oklahoma between three different vehicles. A Dodge Challenger, a Toyota Camry, and a Peterbilt tractor-trailer were headed north on U.S. 81 while a Chevy Impala was headed south. The Challenger attempted to pass the Camry and Peterbilt but ended up colliding with the Impala.
Charlsie N. Currie, 24, and a five-year-old boy were both killed at the scene.
The remaining occupants in the Camry – a 19-year-old woman from Duncan, Okla., a 19-year-old male from Duncan, a five-month-old male from Normangee, Texas and a three-year-old male – were taken to the hospital. The five-month-old is in serious condition with head, arm, internal and external torso and leg injuries. The 19-year-old male is also in serious condition with several injuries. Both the 19-year-old female and three-year-old male were treated and released from a hospital.
The driver of the Challenger remains in critical condition at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
The driver of the Camry was not injured.
