Henderson County, TX (10/2/2020) – Two people are now dead after being in a two-vehicle wreck on State Highway 19.
The accident happened near Athens on Friday morning. A Toyota Corolla driven by 26-year-old Darrien Anderson was headed north on SH 19 just before 10 a.m. when it crested a hill and then crossed into the southbound lane. Just as Anderson was cresting the hill, so was a Ford Fusion driven by 29-year-old Lynsey Jaclyn Berger. The two crashed head-on.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Berger was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
A third vehicle was damaged after hitting debris from the crash and was unable to leave the scene. The driver, 63-year-old Shirley Kay Luttrell, was not hurt.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
