Two People Dead in Overnight Crash in South Austin

Austin, TX (2/24/2020) – Two people were killed in South Austin near Buda in an overnight crash.

Fatal Vehicle Wreck Left One Dead in Temple

The accident happened on Interstate Highway 35 around 12:45 a.m. According to police, a driver in a gray Nissan Altima headed the wrong way in the northbound lanes collided with a gold Chevrolet Silverado carrying a trailer. A fire consumed both vehicles as a result of the collision.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 27-year-old Jose Martin Zamarippa.

The driver of the truck was also pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 47-year-old Brian Allen Tucker.

A passenger riding in the truck was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
