Smith County, TX (8/13/2020) – Two people were killed and one person was injured after a wreck that happened on Tuesday.
The accident happened around 9:45 p.m. on Highway 110 near Troup. A Hyundai Accent was pulled over to the shoulder while a Kia Optima was headed northbound on the highway. For reasons unknown, the Hyundai made a u-turn in front of the Kia, causing a collision.
The driver of the Hyundai, Anselmo Alonzo, 68, and passenger Brenda Alonzo, 68, were taken to the hospital, where they later died.
The driver of the Kia was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
