Karnack, TX (5/1/2020) – Two people are now dead after a three-vehicle wreck Thursday night in Karnack.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1989 and Hwy 9. The collision involved a car, a pickup truck, and a motorcycle. Jeffery Mac Martin, 52 failed to yield to the motorcycle when he pulled out in his Ford F-150 pickup onto FM 1999 from Farm-to-Market Road 9. The motorcycle slammed into the driver’s side door of the truck. The two people on the motorcycle were then struck by a Honda Civic.
One person was killed at the scene and a second died on the way to Oschner LSU Health Shreveport, according to troopers.
The victims have been identified as 48-year-old Melanie Hubbard and 54-year-old Richard Phillips of Shreveport, Louisiana.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
