Two People Left Dead in Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash

Austin, TX (2/14/2020) – Two people are now dead after a single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Austin, Texas.

The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. on North Capital of Texas Highway. Owen William Macki, 21, and Raquel Gitane Aveytia, 24, were traveling on the highway when they hit a barrier wall of the North MoPac service road.

Macki was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aveytia was taken to a hospital in Round Rock, where she later died.

The cause of the crash is still unknown. Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Pending the result of the investigation, it will be revealed what exactly was the cause of the accident. Because Macki was driving at the time of the wreck, there could be a possibility that he remains at-fault for the accident. If that is the case, then the surviving family of Aveytia may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim against Macki’s insurance.
