Cleveland, TX (12/12/2020) – Two teenagers were killed in a fatal crash in Cleveland Saturday evening.
The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. A vehicle occupied by a family was sitting in traffic on I-69 near the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. That’s when a Gulf Coast Fiber Services commercial van slammed into the back of their car and forced the car to spin out of its lane and strike the back of a pickup truck. The van clipped the rear end of another vehicle.
One of the teenage passengers were pronounced dead at the scene and the other died on the way to the hospital.
The parents and the driver of the van were also taken to the hospital.
The deceased victims were identified as 14-year-old Ravi Kumar and 19-year-old Neal Kumar.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in ten days.
Wrongful Death Lawyers
When someone is killed because of the negligence of another person or entity, surviving family members may seek to hold the responsible party accountable by filing a wrongful death lawsuit. Because of the commercial van’s negligence, the Kumar family has a right to file two wrongful death claims against the van and the van’s company.
