Two Truck Drivers Die in Fiery Crash Near Sonora, TX

Sonora, TX (September 11, 2019) – Two truck drivers passed away in a crash six miles west of Sonora.

The truck accident happened Tuesday around 1:30 a.m. on I-10.

Servilio L. Placeres Gonzalez was driving a 2009 Volvo truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, traveling westbound on I-10.

Luis A. Sanchez was driving a 1997 Peterbilt towing a semi-trailer. 

According to the Texas DPS, Mr. Gonzalez’s big rig struck Mr. Sanchez’s semi-trailer. The impact of the collision caused both trucks to burst into flames. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Gonzalez was 49-years-old from Houston.

Mr. Sanchez was 72-years-old from Sugarland.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
