El Paso, TX (9/29/2020) – Two women were injured after a two-vehicle wreck occurred late Tuesday night in El Paso.
The accident happened at the intersection of Viscount and Hawkins Boulevard. Elizabeth Ann Rodriguez was driving a Hyundai Elantra in the far-right, turn-only lane when she failed to turn right and went straight while the light was red. She collided with a Jeep Liberty headed south on Hawkins.
The driver of the Liberty, a 55-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.
Rodriguez, who was not wearing her seatbelt, suffered severe head trauma and is currently listed in critical condition at University Medical Center.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Running a red light at a traffic stop is a violation of Texas roadway laws, and a clear indication of negligence.
