According to the Houston Police Department, officers had tried to stop the suspect on a traffic violation. The driver led police on a pursuit of the Southwest Freeway, ultimately running a red light on a HWY 59 access road where the suspect crashed into the Uber driver.
The Uber driver was pronounced dead on the scene while the teenage passenger was transported to a local area hospital. Police say the teen possibly suffered a spinal injury. The suspect was also taken to a local hospital for a leg injury. Police say the suspect will be facing numerous charges and they’re continuing to investigate the incident to see if there were any signs of intoxication.
