Waller High School Student Dies in Auto-Pedestrian Accident

Houston, TX (September 6, 2019) – A 15-year-old student named Steven Swartz was struck by a car near Waller High School.

According to authorities, the auto-pedestrian accident happened Thursday around 7:15 a.m. on Field Store Road.

Reports indicate that a school bus dropped Steven on campus. He left the school to go to a nearby store walking southbound along Field Store Road.

The driver of a red Infiniti was also traveling southbound when Steven ran across the road in front of the car. The driver attempted to stop, but was unable to in time. 

Steven was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition, but passed away due to his injuries.

It has not been determined if he was hit in the crosswalk area. Steven was a special needs sophomore at the high school. 

The driver is an employee of the Waller Independent School District. He did remain on the scene and it is unclear if he will face any charges.
