Windthorst, TX (September 26, 2019) – A tanker truck exploded leaving one person dead in Windthorst, Texas.
The explosion happened Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. at Joe’s Kwik Stop on U.S. 281.
According to authorities a tanker truck was unloading fuel from its truck when it exploded. The driver of the tanker truck did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:30 p.m.
The driver was identified as 31-year-old Sandan Foster from Lubbock. Mr. Foster worked for Texas Petroleum. He leaves behind his wife and child.
There were at least four cars damaged by the explosion. Several local fire departments worked together to put the fire out before it caused further damage.
Investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the explosion and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
