Sugar Land, TX (11/16/2020) – A woman is dead after a wrong-way collision occurred Monday morning in Sugar Land.
The accident happened on the Southwest Freeway near Highway 6 around 2:30 a.m. A pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Johnny Bladimir Martinez was headed northbound in the southbound lanes and crashed into a Jeep.
The driver of the Jeep, a woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead as a result of the collision.
Martinez was taken to the hospital. They have reason to believe the driver may have been intoxicated, police said.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
