Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck in Anderson County

Anderson County, TX (1/31/2021) – A Palestine woman was killed Sunday after being involved in a two-vehicle wreck in Anderson County. 

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 19 and U.S. Highway 287. Marie Hardin, 87, was driving a Toyota Corolla south on SH 19 while a Toyota Venza was headed north. For some reason, the Venza failed to yield the right-of-way to the Corolla and turned into the Corolla’s path. The Venza struck the front left of the vehicle. 

Hardin was transported to CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Venza was taken to Palestine Regional Hospital for treatment.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
